9 Days Before Christmas - The Tree

and so pictures she shall have.

There are still ornaments to be placed.
Each has a story,
from the California Colleagues who keep us up-to-date on the White House collection,
to the couple who were married Christmas weekend, several decades ago.
We've lost track of them, but their gift-to-guests ornament reminds me of a lovely Chicago winter evening at the Three Arts Club in Chicago.

The boxes are back in the garage and the floor is swept.
I'm taking a minimalist approach to the back of the tree this year.
It received lights but no ornaments.
I only see three-quarters of the decor, and I don't store anything I don't want to see.
I put up everything I have, each one with a memory.

They made me replace Little Cuter's paper plate angel tree topper after 27 years of service.
Santa's more where I am right now, I think.
There's a definite dearth of wise men following any star I can find.

  1. LOVE the pixs! :) I like that you have ornaments that tell a story. We have some, but not a lot. When our daughter was born, we bought plastic ornaments that look like glass 'cause we didn't want ornaments that shatter. We probably could get glass ones now, but with four cats, they would still probably bat at them and break them. I like our purple, silver and red ornaments.

Had to laugh at the paper plate angel on top of the tree. 27 years is a long time for a paper plate to last. :)

    Thanks so much for sharing!

  2. We take much the same approach to decorating the tree. We only do a 4' tree on top of a table in the corner of the family room. Almost all of the ornaments have special meaning, mostly from our travels through the years, but the most special are the family ones of course.
