The Met Gala

I never paid attention to this event before.

But I go nowhere and see no one and now any splash of color (that's not sports) catches my eye.  Especially when my first view is of Amanda Gorman

Us Weekly

There were a lot of crystals.  There were lots of nearly naked women and if there were any nearly naked men I couldn't find a picture to share.  I'm not sure how this is okay.

I know nothing about the event itself.  I have no interest in knowing any more.  It's enough that I spent some delightful minutes watching videos of people I didn't know smiling/grimacing/turning this way and that on the red carpet.  I browsed Vogue's coverage for a while, realizing that I knew very few of the celebrities.... and that I didn't care.

It was pretty and superficial and I didn't care about that, either.  I was amused in a novel fashion for a while and that, in Pandemica 2.0, is, apparently, enough.

(Have I mentioned that being a considerate member of society requires vaccinating yourself against highly contagious diseases..... like TB and polio and Covid-19?)

I have often wondered how these folks with (a) full length sticky clothes (b) walking in the midst of huge yardage attached to their being, and(c) transparent clothes , manage to go to the loo etc if required , at the Met Gala. Perhaps they simply dont. Which is actually not good. Sigh.

I must admit I also took great joy scrolling through the WaPo gallery of what people wore. I must admit I recognized more of the sportswomen (Naomi Osaka's everything was AMAZING)than the actors, but the bright colors (And Lil Nas X in three layers of gold including plate armor) and complete lack of existential horror was a nice change.

I guess I will have to do some catch up? I did used to watch What Not to Wear although no one who ever saw me in day to day life would ever guess that I had even the slightest interest in fashion.

There were some outfits that defied movement or bathroom breaks, indeed. It's walking on those super high heels that amazes me, though.

I knew the sport people - Megan Rapinoe was my favorite- but beyond that, dear niece, I am generationally challenged!

Not having the slightest internet re st in fashion pretty much describes me, too, Olga. But the prettiness drew me in... you owe yourself some looks!

Well, that was fun, very entertaining. Thanks for the link. I sure didn't know who most of these people were, and like you said, I don't care either. I guess that means I'm old. Yup.

But we can appreciate their outsides without wondering about their insides and, as Intrepid Cat says above, the absence of existential horror was delightful!
