MLK Day

The MAGA hats are disappointed.  Their fearless leader won't be outside to see how few of them showed up.  His Inaugural Committee has ordered that the Jumbotrons be removed, so there won't be an outdoor live performance of any kind. Many are asking for refunds of their hotel and travel expenses (good luck with that,  but keep buying those coins, boots, and bibles).

Democracy dies in darkness. 

WaPo used to have this as a header, but its avatar will be in the Rotunda (oh, wait, they know how to get in there; no refund needed) so his hair doesn't get mussed. The rest of us will weep as Democracy sobs. 

I leave you with 2 things as we DON'T WATCH:
1. Do something for someone else today,  in honor of a man who saw the goodness and promise of our society. 
2. Enjoy this cartoon.

    Maybe it's just me but I assumed changing the venue for the inauguration was more about the people who would have started lining up outside hours before the event.

    Years ago when I did playground duty at the kid's school there was a big difference between the classes that came out for 15 minutes and went back inside and the monitors that had to be out for two hours.

    When one books non-refundable airfare & accommodation and the situation changes it is not reasonable to expect a refund. Maybe, just maybe the MAGATs will discover two things: He does not care one bit about them, and that Everything Trump Touches Dies. #ETTD Thank you for the MLK cartoon, so appropriate.

    Reading your blog is frequently the thing that helps me stay sane on any given day! It's just my personal opinion - and in any other forum I would probably be flamed big time - but I think the change of venue isn't so much about the temperature today but about the fact that if the ceremonies are inside the new guy won't have to see any flags at half staff.

    I watched. I had my hour long PT to do today plus it is laundry and house keeping day, so I recorded the NBC coverage but Tom had MSNBC in live in the kitchen. I watched and listened to the radio and stretched and worked and seethed through the morning and into the afternoon. Everything ticked me off. I think Tom was ducking for cover. We stopped and listened intently to his speech. I took notes. I have lots to say. I probably won't say any of it.
    For now everything is off. It is quiet. I am calming down. But how in hell could we have done this again!!!
