Ouch

Concerned Adult: Your job as a tween is to put distance between yourself and your parents.  You pull away, and resist, and sometimes you make mistakes. It's their job to let you make mistakes. They can allow you to make mistakes because it's also their job to be there for you when you fall, to catch you, to prop you back up, to get you started again.

Thoughtful Tween:  I get it.  In my life, my mom is like a trampoline.  My dad is like the sidewalk - concrete.
