A Pause

Two rainy days in a row and Tucsonans are tearing their hair out.  Yesterday's steady, gentle rain was unusual and welcomed but waking up this morning to more clouds did not improve anyone's mood.  The traffic reporter told me there were accidents all over town.

Today was for re-stocking and resting and reading.  The library was a treasure trove; I came home with Anne Perry and her latest Elena Standish mystery and these friends, too.
Unloading the Costco supplies after Pilates was exhausting.  I napped in between chapters.  Waking up was hard to do.

Were we hungry? DQ milkshakes were on the way home from the rest of my errands, filled all sorts of boxes for both of us, and put a smile on my face.  Off I went.

I tried to listen to the radio, but it was all political speculation and dead children in Gaza and the intractability of everyone involved in everything and it was impossible to be dispassionate and I was driving and passion and those damn clouds were an unhealthy combination.

After a successful search in WallyWorld for those plastic bags that use a vacuum cleaner hose to squish comforters and pillows into nothingness - no one knew what they were really called but everyone knew exactly what they were, and generally where they were in the store - I spent much too long in the drive through line.

My small strawberry with whipped cream snack kept me company as I took advantage of a break in the

Milkshakes for late lunch/not really dinner, left-over takeout from yesterday, blogging with The Bachelor in the background..... this was a reset day.

I had high hopes for tomorrow, but the weather app tells me to expect rain once again.  It may be time to reach out to my friends and tell them I'm ready for further adventures.  It's time to engage with 2024.

  1. I just recently finished The Covenant of Water. I thought it was wonderful.

  2. I recently finished The Boys in the Boat, very good, tried a non-fiction about Vikings, gave up, and just started The Book Woman's Daughter. It grabbed my attention right away.
I loved this sentence: "I tried to listen to the radio, but it was all political speculation and dead children in Gaza and the intractability of everyone involved in everything and it was impossible to be dispassionate " . Yes. indeed.
