Yes, Bravo for great medical care and the insurance with which to pay for it.
Four hours, round trip is not too bad, but when you are not feeling energized, it's a hard trip. Our Stanford trips are 3 hours each way, so we stay overnight.
However, after yesterday's video consultation for the next step, I have learned we have to return home immediately after the procedure as Terry will be slightly radio-active and should not spend time out among people. We can drive up the day before, stay overnight and be at Stanford early morning. The procedure and observation will be about 5 hours and then immediately head back to Fresno. I will be feeling pretty tired then.
We agreed to pay whatever Medicare and our supplement won't and it will be worth every penny. Give your radioactive husband a hug.... if that's allowed. a/b
That has been precisely our experience at Mayo Rochester since we started going there in 2011. I am happy to know you and TBG had a great experience too at Mayo Scottsdale. It is an 11-hour drive one way to Rochester for us, so we have hotel nights on the way there and back as well as in Rochester. But it has been well worth the time and trouble. (By the way, we have learned that it is Mayo Clinic, no "The," even in the beginning of a sentence.) So glad that you have connected to Mayo for care. xoxo
Good to know Mayo AZ is actually in Phoenix, and even happier to know you have a good place to stay nearby if need be. Sounds like a great option for care--hooray! xoxo

ReplyDeleteWe were in Phoenix, not Scottsdale. If we need accomodations, JannyLou and Fast Eddie run a swell b&b nearby.
ReplyDeleteI'll remove THE right now; thanks!
