50 Years

In September, 1970, I hitched a ride with a cute blonde in a red convertible.

In August, 1975, I married him in my parents' back yard.

On Sunday, we will celebrate the passage of time, even though I remember it all as if it were yesterday.

We may be gray and wrinkly in real life, but in my mind I see us like that picture.  Me, in my perfect hat and dress.  He, sweltering and smiling in a three piece suit in the humidity on Long Island after a night of rain.  We were surrounded by those we loved.

Fifty years later, we haven't aged a bit.

    1. We were adorable, weren't we! I'm sure you and Farm Boss were just as sweet. Yes, bumps but no derailment - 61 is quite impressive.
Welcome back, Rain. I've missed your perspective.

    2. Thank you. I have long thought we are not so different in our values. It's how we get there is the question.

    3. I agree. The path is different but the conclusions are the same.

  2. Happy Anniversary. You are just six months fewer than us. 50 years! It does seem amazing, doesn't it? We didn't even know many people who were 50 years old, much less MARRIED for 50 years. Terry and I have been celebrating all year and our wish is for another 50 years. May you also enjoy another 50 years of love.

  6. Congratulations Bill and Suzi, this is a Golden Opportunity to celebrate you both. To say the least, you have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly, together. Thank God you got into that red car. Enjoy wild and quiet celebrations, you have earned them.
