Problem is, Europe is not altogether pleased with the proposal. The European Commission President was left to defend the plan, saying it was the best she could do.
The deal requires the approval of the member states and the European Parliament (according to Google's AI which will not let me search any deeper) which will happen after the details are hammered out. This is not a finish by the end of the trip process. This will take months.
In the meantime, here at home the tariffs themselves are the subject of lawsuits whose outcomes may make the whole deal thing moot. And who knows what the TACO president will come up with next? Will someone leak incriminating photos of him doing who knows what?
So, for now, I'm going with No Deal. We shall see.
i do not generally comment here but had two thoughts on your post. One, do you hope the EU possible deal will fail even though it would benefit your own country. A second is if you trust any photos with AI, as it is, you aren't paying attention to what's going on around you as the deceptions that are possible make what you think you see not trustworthy on either side.
ReplyDeleteWelcome! I'm not enough of an economist or historian to know if the deal will be good for the USA or not. All I've seen from tariffs thus far are tomatoes for $5.95 which were $2.99 two weeks ago, so that might just color my vision. I didn't reference any photos, just the information it gave me and that was about EU procedure and the EU website made finding anything deeper quite onerous..... another sign of the apocalypse and why kids use AI to do homework. Ever since Dave Barry's Substack about trying to convince AI that he was not dead I've avoided the robots as much as possible.

Why don't grownups stand up to the petulant child and tell him exactly as it is. The only one who has even come close is Jerome Powell. He took a stand and told the silly boy just how wrong he was. The EU head just sat there smiling and trying to "make nice" with someone that does not deserve such niceties. No one in government, any where, seems to know how to handle this personality.
ReplyDeleteYou are SO RIGHT. Macron is suing him. Canada trolls him at every opportunity. But aside from Colbert, Stewart, and Newsome, everyone else is just so damn polite.

I will NEVER understand why people don't stand up to him, he is rude, belligerent, ignorant, and just an all around awful creature. Jerome Powell is the only person I have seen that has stood up to him and when he did Trump backed down.
Deletemacron is not suing him, but Candace Owens for saying his wife was born a male.
DeleteInteresting contrast in comments. Do we want the USA to fail? Of course not. But what is winning? With the "petulant child" in chief, how will we even know?
ReplyDeleteExactly. Americans are torn between loving our country and despising the direction it is headed. That's my truth.
