Jim Davis used that phrase in yesterday's comments. He is, as usual, correct, especially as he goes on to call out the Mainstream Media for sane-itizing it.
I haven't noticed the deterioration of the word salad ... the weave ... but I try not to pay attention to the phraseology when he opens his mouth. It gives me a headache if I try to follow his train of thought... or the lack thereof.
But when the Republican nominee for President called for a Kristallnacht of our very own and it wasn't the lead story on the national news, I began to despair, once again, that this normalization of what used to live under a rock will never end.
Then, I learned that CBS will do no fact checking during the debate. They'll discuss it afterwards. There will be a QR code on the screen to a real-time fact checking link. I get that correcting errors could get in the way of a free flowing debate, but a chyron scrolling at the bottom of the screen shouldn't be that hard to do.
After all, some people need to be told, explicitly, that no one is eating pets, and there's no such thing as a post-birth abortion. The people behind the microphones have a responsibility, and they are failing.
The airways belong to the people. We have a right to be informed and not led astray by alternative facts. The FCC and the Congress are dysfunctional and of no help at all.
All this while an elderly man commands a podium and rages unchecked, while appearing in snippets on television where he seems coherent. It's dereliction of duty. It's shameful.
It is what it is.
