Happy Birthday, Giblet

Today, he is 8.

Fitzgerald, the dog zooming through the birthday photo shoot is oblivious, while I am struck by the passage of time.

Wasn't it yesterday that FlapJilly and I were waiting at home for Mama to push him out?  Now he's hitting home runs.

I love the big kid he's becoming,  the kind, sensitive, artistic, responsible, human who runs faster than anyone else, ever, and whose heart is always open and giving.

He was that way as a toddler.  He's that way now.  Watch out, world, for what's coming next.  He's not a baby any more.

  1. In a twinkling of an eye...

Our grandkids are now taller than me. Probably smarter than me because our granddaughter can dance (I'm all left feet) and our grandson is a math whiz (I can add and subtract) and both of them can hold their own in a good conversation.

It all goes so fast and that is the reason we are really devoting as much time with them as we can. We have even rescheduled Terry's treatments at Stanford because the dates interfered with one of Judah's momentous occasions. I explained to one of the Fellows on Terry's team that we really wanted our grandkids to see us as healthy as possible and to remain as active in their lives as possible. His reply:
"I understand. I have a 7 year old son and I would want the same for him with his grandparents. We can rearrange the dates."

    1. We did the same for TBG's appointments when Little Cuter brought the gang for Spring Break. Life is worth living, right?!

  2. Already? Oh my! I guess I have been hanging around your blog for a long time, since I remember the time before both of them.

  3. Hard to believe he's 8 already. The dog zooming through the picture is great, perfect timing!

    1. Yes, Fitzgerald is great and perfect and the softest animal on the planet. The 8 year old's lengthy existence on this same planet stuns me.
