Random Thoughts - Family, Medicine, and The Media

Watching SIR, world's best son in law, teach FlapJilly, world's best oldest granddaughter, how to swim in my own pool in my own yard with the sun shining and the kid giggling is officially one of my Top 10 Moments In Life.
*****
I've been sick for 10 days.  I've been functional most of the time, fighting through the body aches and sore throat and tiredness because it's springtime in the desert and the outdoors is just delicious.  But this morning TBG and Little Cuter convinced me that it was time to visit the doctor.  So, while the visitors went off to the zoo, TBG drove me down the block to the doctor's office.

Gotta love a practice that sees you the same morning you call and ask for help.  Gotta love a PA's Assistant (the Assistants have Assistants now!) who sees that I'm not carrying a purse and asks me to put anything you don't want weighed on the shelf..  Gotta love a PA who listens closely as her fingers type notes (no scribes here, thank you) and who takes the most comprehensive list of questions and answers and comes up with allergies.
*****
Of course, it might also be Valley Fever, but the 2 tubes of blood the PA'sA drew at the end of the visit will reveal that in 2 days.

I'm not going to worry.  It will be what it will be.

Meanwhile, I have three different medications, all of which declare that they may cause drowsiness, dizziness, and agitation.

If I take two of them, do you think the drowsiness will counteract the agitation?
*****
The pharmacist was appalled at the price tag on my medications.

Let me see what I can do turned into a 5 minute consultation with her computer and her phone and a savings to me of almost $30.

I'm not sure what she did, but she told me what to say when I order refills.

Gotta love an employee who goes out of her way to help the customer.
*****
I took one dose of medicine before I sat down to type to you.

I feel better already.

Yay, Science!
*****
And, because Michael Steele admonished Nicole Wallace today, I feel justified in adding my voice to his.

Why in the world is Trump's security motorcade being televised?  He's a criminal on the way to an arraignment.

Once again, the media is giving the narcissist exactly what he wants.  Publicizing twelve Republicans decrying the outrage and one sane comment from Jamie Raskin is framing the debate exactly the way the Republicans want.

The full faith and credit of the United States hangs in the balance while talking heads give me political porn.
****
And because it's too nice a day to end on such a sour note, look at what's blooming in my garden right now.

  1. I don't watch cable news or any TV for that matter. My suggestion is when people don't like the coverage, quit giving them ratings... Glad you are feeling better. Was it Valley Fever?

    1. Will hear about the VF tomorrow. The allergy meds are amazingly effective. So weird that this is happening after living here for 16 years.
I enjoyed the explanations of the indictment, but now I'm done. There is so much else to spend productive time enoying.

  2. That's a positive sign that you felt better after just one dose.
I have been blustering around here about Trump's :"triumphal entry" into NYC. All they needed was palm fronds. He is eating up all this attention. This kind of news coverage is what got him elected in the first place,

  3. I'm taking Claritin every day for all the pollen we have here in the San Joaquin Valley. Sorry that your meds are pricey. Our prescription insurance is through the school district and we pay $10 for each med or refill. As for the previous guy, I'll watch when the sentencing a jailing happens. Until then, I'm ignoring the whole thing.

    1. It was interesting to have the logic behind the indictment explained, but we did not listen to him rant (I assume) at MarALago tonight, nor will I be spending much time listening to speculations. I'm instituting the same rule I use for Ancient Aliens and other such specious programs - we change the channel when they enter the subjunctive.
